The Exempt company is the most popular vehicle used by clients seeking an offshore business solution and is the main vehicle used for offshore hedge funds. An Exempt Company may own assets in the Islands provided the use of these assets does not constitute a trade.

The Exempt Company provides the additional benefit of a tax exemption certificate granted for a period of up to 20 years as a safeguard against the very unlikely event the Islands introduce a system of company taxation. Exempt companies may apply for this benefit under the Tax Concessions Law. The Company is not required to hold shareholder’s meetings.
